HASHTAC SUNNYBANK
The project was in a retail and office precinct in Sunnybank. The 12-square-metre space faced a car park adjacent to a busy street. The design brief asked for an affordable and strategic renovation to attract customers to the owner’s tea and patisserie shop. The core design concept of the project is using glass bricks - a combination of brick and glass which was used in the surrounding shopfront. The translucent facade allows natural light into the interior space and gives the impression of a larger shop. As a small shop in the open-air car park, it also satisfies the customer’s need for genuine and authentic. The raw concrete wall and stainless-steel kitchen equipment reinforce this perception. At night, the shop becomes a sparkling lantern in the dark car park.
