BUBBLE TEA KIOSK
The shop was in Westfield Garden City. The bubble tea market in that area is highly competitive. There are at least five bubble tea shops in Westfield Garden City alone. Hence, we began our design process with two goals in mind, "innovative design that sets us apart from other bubble tea shops" and “affordability”.
We decided to adopt the deconstructive design approach and utilized steel studs –which are normally hidden behind the finishes – as the representative material.
The steel studs are lightweight and easy to assemble, which makes them commonly used in commercial fit-outs. They are raw and existing materials with a high level of recyclability and functionality, so they can be used again without needing to be reprocessed.
The reflective steel studs are placed side by side to create a shiny stage for the products. The light box design continues to deconstruct concept and presents the soft LED strip directly, which contrasts with the stiff steel stud.
